Decanter centrifuges can generally be divided into horizontal spiral filter centrifuges and horizontal spiral decanters. The decanter centrifuge is a horizontal spiral discharge, continuous operation of the sedimentation equipment.

The working principle of this type of centrifuge is as follows: the drum and the spiral rotate at a certain differential speed in the same direction and at high speed, the material is continuously introduced into the inner cylinder of the feed tube and accelerated into the drum, under the action of the centrifugal force field, the heavier solids are deposited on the wall of the drum to form a sediment layer. The feed spiral pushes the deposited solid phase continuously to the cone end of the drum and discharges it out of the machine via the slag discharge port. The lighter liquid phase forms an inner liquid ring, which continuously overflows out of the drum through the overflow port at the large end of the drum and is discharged through the discharge port.
